High Needs Exercise Groups

Our high needs exercise group is for teens and young adults who require extra assistance with their exercise program. This is achieved in a reduced size group of no more than three clients where we aim to group clients according to ages and interests to facilitate a social network. Programs are devised in collaboration with their treating physiotherapist, are outcome driven and specifically focus on function, mobility and independence.

Our goal for these individuals is to graduate into our afternoon teens gym as their capacity to independently exercise develops.

These sessions are ideal for:
  • Cerebral Palsy GMFCS III and IV
  • Genetic conditions
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorders / Autism Spectrum Disorders requiring hands on assistance.
  • Moderate to severe intellectual impairment

Programs focus on a number of goals:
  • Maintaining and maximising function and independence via:
  • Strength, flexibility, fitness
  • Co-ordination and balance
  • Postural correction
  • Mood and behaviour management
When do High needs Exercise Groups run?

Sessions run Saturday mornings during the school term.

  • Coorparoo 7 am-12 pm

The gym session runs for 30 minutes at $40/session.

Due to the complexity of conditions cared for in these sessions all clients are required to see a physiotherapist for assessment prior to commencing.
